At Poring Hot Springs (and they were, very hot) halfway up the mountain, there were lots of these gorgeous things: blowed if I know what they are though…Wild datura trees on top of a hill
Hibiscus growing on the same hill: a possible garden escapee, I thought
A wierd and wonderful ginger flower bud; this one in the Rainforest Discovery Centre near Sandakan
One man’s weed….. Morning glory is the Borneo equivalent of bindweed. Wish I had that problem.

Fabulous flowers! The white spidery lily is Hymenocallis; the Lobster claw Heliconia, H. rostratus and Brugmansia (datura) below it are not Asian but New World, I think. And I think the weird, red waxy ginger is Costus woodsonii.Borneo is sheer heaven – hope you're enjoying it!

thanks Nige, I was kind of hoping you might step in there 😀 I've just realised I knew it was a hymenocallis – it had been bugging me ever since I saw it as I knew I'd seen pictures of it somewhere before. Interesting re the datura – they were definitely growing at the edge of the rainforest and I don't think they'd been planted. Another garden escapee maybe?sheer heaven….yup!
